Email verification sends a code or link to an email address. TempInbox can receive these messages for short-term signup and manual testing when the sending service accepts disposable addresses. Delivery and successful verification are separate checks.

How do you receive an email verification code with TempInbox?

Create an inbox, use its address in the accepted signup form, and read the verification email when it arrives.

  1. Open TempInbox and copy the generated address.
  2. Enter the address in your signup or test application and confirm that it was accepted.
  3. Select that inbox, match the sender and recipient, and use the code or link before the sender's expiry window ends.

Delivery times vary. A sender may reject a disposable domain, delay delivery, or fail to send a message. There is no guaranteed completion time.

What kinds of OTP emails a temp inbox receives

TempInbox can receive these email formats when the sender accepts the address and successfully delivers the message. This does not guarantee acceptance by every service.

How quickly does an email verification code arrive?

Delivery depends on the sender, mail transport, and inbox service; TempInbox does not promise a fixed number of seconds.

If a code is missing, check the exact recipient and selected inbox, confirm the form accepted the address, and inspect delivery logs when testing your own application. A delay is not proof of blocking and should not automatically be blamed on either service. Follow the blocked or missing verification email checklist.

Can a verification code expire before you use it?

Yes. The sending application controls the code or link's validity period, and a delayed message may contain an expired credential.

TempInbox's lack of a minute countdown does not extend the sender's expiry window or guarantee message retention. Request a new code when supported, then test whether your application invalidates older codes. Browser-saved inbox access remains separate from the message retention policy.

When to use a real inbox for OTP instead

Temp email is the right choice for OTP when you are doing a one-time signup and do not intend to keep the account long-term. For accounts you will use repeatedly — particularly any that use email OTP as a recurring login mechanism (some passwordless apps send a new OTP every time you log in) — use a durable real inbox.

The rule: if you will need to receive an OTP from this service in six months, use your real address. If this is a one-time signup, a trial, or a test account, temp email is fine.

Email OTP vs SMS OTP

These are different verification methods. Temp email solves email OTP — any service that sends a code or link to an email address. SMS OTP sends a code to a phone number via text message, which requires a real phone number or a virtual number service. TempInbox does not provide phone numbers.

If you are looking for a temporary phone number for SMS verification, that is a different product category entirely.

How do you test email verification codes?

Use TempInbox for manual checks of successful codes, expiry, resend, and wrong-account attempts. Up to three browser-saved inboxes can separate test personas.

Confirm both that the email arrives and that your application changes the intended account state. TempInbox has no supported public automation API; unattended CI needs an API-capable mail-testing provider or a controlled capture system. See the email verification testing guide.
